by Saviour Attard -

vsKercemFrontGFANadur Youngsters went out of the GFA cup last Thursday after loosing 3-2 against Kercem Ajax. The whites paid off for missing a mouthful of golden chances in front of goal whereas Kercem where more lethal and scored when it mattered most. Leonard Camilleri was twice on the score sheet, with Josef Debrincat scoring the second goal early in the second half.Nadur’s goals came both from the Brazilian Cadu but were of little importance on the final result.

After 19 minutes of play Nadur lost the first chance in front of goal when Saviour Attard headed high inside the area from a free-kick by
Simoncic.Few minutes later Josef Buttigieg crossed perfectly in Kercem’s area to find Kyle Russell, but the latter saw his shot ending high over the post.Kercem punished Nadur soon after .Dylan Mercieca’s long throw created panic with Steve Sultana tripping Josef Debrincat outside the area. The ball fell to Leonard Debrincat who lobbed the ball on goal.Nadur reacted well and could have leveled in many occasions but Donald Gauci was in inspired form and produced some brilliant saves mainly on Alex Simoncic.

Just after the restart Kyle Russell turned around Kercem’s Defender Dylan Mercieca with a good move but his shot failed to reach the target. Josef Debrincat lost a great chance for Kerrcem after 50 minutes of play when ,unmarked in the Nadur area headed the ball high.Debrincat paid off for this chance two minutes later after beating Sultant with a low shot following a corner.

Cadu reduced the deficit for Nadur on the 60th minute blasting the ball in the net inside Kercem’s box.Kercem were shocked and Nadur pressed up for the equalizer. However it was Kercem who re-gained there two-goal lead 15 minutes from time.Milos Stojanovic’s poor effort was partially saved by Sultana and Leonard Camilleri   was quick to be first on the ball and doubled his scoring tally. Josef Buttigieg was sent off for a second yellow following a foul on Milos Stojanovic in the area. The referee also awarded a penalty but the same Stojanovic saw his shot saved by Sultana. Just before the final whistle Nadur were awarded a penalty after a foul on Anthony Portelli.Cadu made no mistake from the spot but the final whistle came immediately after.
