PETER PAUL BUTTIGIEG B.A. (Gen) Peter Paul Buttigieg (ta’ l-Iskiter) was born on 4th February 1955, in Nadur, GOZO – Malta. He started his education at the Nadur Primary School and then at the St. Paul’s Missionary College, Malta for his secondary education. After his University degree BA (Gen) 1974-1977, he followed a post-graduate teacher's coarse and started teaching at a Primary school for 2 years, then went to a secondary school teaching Maths, English, Maltese and PSD (Personal & Social Development). In 1993-95, he followed a Diploma course in SCHOOL COUNSELLING at the University of MALTA and also became a Guidance teacher in 1993 at the Ninu Cremona Lyceum Complex in Victoria Gozo. In 2003 he was appointed as a School Counsellor for Gozo. Peter worked as a Life-Skills facilitator for Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) 1992-94 and from 1995 started working for SEDQA (An Agency for the Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Abuse) in the Parenting Skills programme. He was President of the Nadur Youngsters F.C. 1984-89, Vice-President 1980-83 and General Secretary for the club 1995-97. He served as a Club Delegate (1980-81), Council Member (1982-87) and Vice-President 1984-86 of the Gozo Football Association. In 2001, he was appointed in a special commission within the GFA to revise the Statute of the Association and is now Chairman of: The Pre-Match Protest Board; The Disciplinary Board and The Players & Coaches Complaints Board.He also forms part of a sub-committee for Carnival Celebrations within the Nadur Local Council. As a football player he started playing for the St. Paul’s Missionary Football team in 1967-68. He made his debut as a goalkeeper for Nadur Youngsters in 1972/73 season (12.11.1972) in the match against Ghajnsielem (1-1). He also played for Gozo FC 1986-87 and some matches for Gozo XI. He finished with the Nadur Youngsters in the season 1990-91. Personal Honours:1977/78: Runners-Up First Division.1981/82: ‘Best Player’ daily paper ‘Il-Ħajja’.1986/87: Nadur Youngsters ‘Player of the Year’1987/88: GFA Cup1998/90: Independence Cup1989/90: 2nd Division League Title.1989/90: 2nd Division K.O. Memorable Moments: First Honour - GFA Cup - 1987/88, when in the Final against Sannat Lions he managed to save two penalty kicks in the shoot out which helped the Youngsters winning the Cup.1994-1995 Season: The most memorable season for the Youngsters so far, when he helped Nadur (although not as a player) to win all competitions organised by the Gozo Football Association and also the prestigious Mosta Tournament. |
